O My! Accuvant And FishNet Circles The Wagons With New Optiv Logo
Accuvant and FishNet Security is feeling its O's after unveiling a circle-themed logo for the soon-to-be-rebranded $1.5 billion combined cybersecurity behemoth.
The logo consists of the "Optiv" part of the new Optiv Security name -- which will be officially adopted during the summer -- and half-circles above and below the O, with the top half-circle in a light blue and the bottom half-circle in a dark blue. The combined Accuvant and FishNet became the world's largest security solution provider when the merger closed in early February, and announced plans to adopt the Optiv name in late April.
The open half-circles in the logo are intended to signify the endless chain of available information security options and Optiv's unique ability to help organizations select, implement and maintain the right solutions, according to Accuvant and FishNet. And the upward shift from darker to lighter colors is meant to create continuous vertical movement and communicate relentlessness, the company said.

"The unveiling of our new brand is an important and tangible step in our transformational growth merger," Steve Perkins, chief marketing officer for Accuvant and FishNet, said in a statement. "It speaks to who we are as a company and the fact that we are tirelessly working for the greater good of the organizations we serve, the customers and constituents they serve, and the world at large."
The new logo, Perkins said, is intended to illustrate Optiv's goal of being the premier partner businesses turn to for an assessment of security-related problems and threats as well as customized options and solutions.
Embracing cybersecurity as an enabler of innovation and creativity rather than as a defense mechanism will make it easier to end users capitalize on the internet of things, Accuvant and FishNet CEO Dan Burns said in a statement.
Brand consulting firm Lippincott has been responsible for coming up with the logo as well as the full visual system, which is expected to be released this summer. Lippincott also took the lead on renaming the company, sifting through more than 1,200 possibilities and conducting linguistic and legal searches on some of the top name contenders before executives ultimately settled on Optiv.
Since the new name was announced, Perkins said, Accuvant and FishNet have been interacting with suppliers and manufacturers on a new look and feel for the combined company. The rebranding process will involve everything from collateral materials and websites to statements and work and master service agreements, Perkins told CRN in April.
Perkins said Accuvant and FishNet is in all-out growth mode, with plans to add hundreds of new people in 2015 specializing in everything from client management to security consulting to managed services. The company had grown its head count from 1,400 when the merger closed in early February to nearly 1,500 by late April.
One of the key hires was 23-year IT industry veteran Anthony Crutcher, who joined Accuvant and FishNet in the newly created chief information officer position in early May. Crutcher will focus on leading the technology integration of the two companies, enhancing the mobile experience for the company's remote workforce and boosting the speed at which information in shared across the company.
