Ruckus Technology Guru And Former President Joins Facebook

Ruckus Networks' former technology visionary and president Dan Rabinovitsj has landed a vice president role at Facebook.

Rabinovitsj posted about his new vice president position at the social media giant on his LinkedIn page Tuesday. "Let's get the next billion people on the internet!" he wrote.

Rabinovitsj was previously president of Ruckus Networks after the departure of longtime CEO Selina Lo in 2017. Following the acquisition of Ruckus by Arris International last year, he became president of Arris Enterprise Networks, a division inside Arris.

Rabinovitsj did not respond to a request for comment by press time. Facebook did not provide details on Rabinovitsj's responsibilities by press time.

Ruckus partners described Rabinovitsj as the technology visionary for the wireless and wired networking specialist while in his role as chief operating officer from 2014 to 2017, before taking the president position.

In June, Ruckus Networks said Rabinovitsj would be leaving in July to be replaced by the company's chief commercial officer, Ian Whiting. In a blog post, Whiting described Rabinovitsj as "one of the smartest guys I have ever worked with."

"Under Dan's leadership, Ruckus has emerged stronger and better equipped to compete in the marketplace," said Whiting in a blog post in June. "[He is] an extremely passionate, humorous and caring person who has worked tirelessly to ensure all of our partners, customers and employees were supported through a very turbulent period last year."

Ruckus' path to Arris was a long and difficult process that hit several major hurdles along the way, including a long delay for review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. In 2016, Ruckus was acquired by Brocade Communications for $1.2 billion. Brocade-Ruckus was then acquired by Broadcom for $5.5 billion last year. Broadcom sold Ruckus and its IP networking business to Arris International for $800 million, a deal that closed Dec. 1.
