Intel Invests In WLAN Security Vendor AirMagnet

"Our investment in AirMagnet reflects our desire to support the development of wireless security technologies that will alleviate security concerns and prevent them from impeding the growth of Wi-Fi," Sriram Viswanathan, managing director of Intel Capital's mobile communications sector, said in a statement.

The exact amount of the investment was not disclosed. In a statement, AirMagnet said that the money will be used both to expand the company's wireless management and security offerings and, more specifically, to implement its software on access point reference platforms developed by Intel.

The reference platforms are given to equipment vendors to help them develop new wireless LAN products.
