Two years ago, "fast data" database vendor VoltDB was 100 percent direct sales. Today, channel sales account for 60 percent of the company's business, but Vice President Eric Sansonetti said that number still is not as high as he would like.
"We plan to continue that [growth] very aggressively over this year and the next year, and hope to be reaching about 80 percent penetration through our partners," Sansonetti told CRNtv.
VoltDB'sin-memory SQL database productcan be integrated with HP Vertica and IBM Netezza, and is targeted at solution providers looking to round out and boost solutions offerings with "fast data," or realtime data from people, social, mobile devices and sensors, meaning that VoltDB also is well-suited for solutions in the Internet-of-Things space.
Sansonetti said the move toward resellers and solution providers was critical.
"A database is a component of a solution, and [partners] naturally give us the ability to get larger market share to increase our number of use cases in the marketplace, and have a one-to-many relationship with us and the market," he said.
Sansonetti said VoltDB’s partners have seen the most success in mobile telecommunications, financial services, smart energy, security and network optimization.
