Ashton Kutcher Shares What Catches His Eye In Tech
Ashton Kutcher says it’s all about the team when it comes to whether a company wins his investment or not.
At Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas, Kutcher discussed his rise in Silicon Valley and what he looks for in companies. Kutcher, well-known for his acting roles, has become a rising star in technology over the years, co-founding two venture capital funds: A-Grade Investments and Sound Ventures. His investments have included Airbnb, Skype, Foursquare and Uber.
’I don’t have a lot of spare time, but the great companies that I find I legitimately at some point in the investment cycle think about quitting my job and going to work for them,’ he said.
Kutcher is also the co-founder of Thorn, an organization that uses technology to fight against the trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children.
He said a strong team is key for a company’s success.
’I think it’s all about the team and the founders and their experience and expertise. They have to have some edge because if it is successful and successful quickly, everybody will try to copy them. And, if they don’t have that level of determination where they’re willing to walk through walls because companies are going to run into obstacles … inevitably it just happens and you have to be willing to legitimately walk through walls on behalf of your idea and your consumers,’ he said.
