Dell Introduces Vostro 460 Desktop For SMBs With Sandy Bridge

SMB Bridge CPU

In a blog post, Dell says it designed the Vostro 460 for the SMB market, as it includes a number of configurable productivity features and allows customers to choose the level of IT support their model of the Vostro 460 will receive with optional 24/7 Dell ProSupport and Dell DataSafe Online Backup services

Intel's second-generation quad-core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge processors featured inside the Vostro launched last week at CES 2011.

The integrated graphics platform offers powerful performance and access to clock speeds as well as cost-efficiency, with list prices in the $200-300 range. It also comes with versatile data processing courtesy of Quick Synch, Intel's cooling technology for accelerated video technology.

In addition, the Vostro 460 features hard-disk capacity expandable up to 3 TB, up to 150W of GPU performance, a tool-less chassis for expanded memory, built-in security services from Trend Micro, a Blu-ray Disc drive, 7.1 HD sound, and a whopping 8 USB 2.0 ports -- although it does not offer native support for USB 3.0. For additional processing power, the Vostro 460 also includes Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, which accelerates the clock speed on the quad-core Sandy Bridge chips.

The Vostro 460 follows Dell's Vostro 430 desktop PC launched in October, which includes many of the same capabilities as the 460 targeting SMBs, within a relatively small form factor for a desktop.

The Dell Vostro 460 starts at $599 and is available through Dell as of this week.
