Google Cloud GM Becomes ServiceNow President As CEO Lauds Exec As ‘Dream Innovator’
'With Amit [Zavery], we found the dream innovator to captivate the market with a compelling vision for ServiceNow as the AI platform for business transformation,' says ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott about hiring its new president, chief product officer and chief operating officer.
Google Cloud’s former general manager of cloud operations and business platform, Amit Zavery, has left to join ServiceNow as its new president, CPO and COO to lead product and engineering.
“I’m excited to bring my experiences to ServiceNow to help achieve the ambition of becoming the defining enterprise software company of the 21st century,” said Zavery on LinkedIn today.
As ServiceNow’s new president, chief product officer and chief operating officer, Zavery is responsible for the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company’s entire platform, products, engineering, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. He now also leads enterprise-wide operations.
“The opportunity ahead is immense, especially with the rise of Generative AI. ServiceNow is at the forefront of this revolution, and I truly believe it can be the biggest difference maker in how people work in the future,” said Zavery. “GenAI has the potential to fundamentally transform enterprise productivity and how people work, and I’m excited to help ServiceNow lead the way in driving this transformation.”

ServiceNow CEO Weighs In
ServiceNow CEO and chairman Bill McDermott said Zavery has an “extraordinary track record of innovation and commercial execution.”
“We wanted a visionary product and engineering leader with a proven history of building market defining products and scaling world class platforms,” McDermott said in a statement. “With Amit, we found the dream innovator to captivate the market with a compelling vision for ServiceNow as the AI platform for business transformation. We could not be more excited to have Amit joining our leadership team."
Who Did Zavery Replace?
ServiceNow’s former president and COO was Chirantan Desai, who officially departed ServiceNow in July.
This month, Desai joined Cloudflare as the company’s new president of product and engineering.
Zavery gave praise to both Desai and ServiceNow’s founder, Fred Luddy.
“I’m also humbled to be stepping into big shoes, following in the footsteps of Fred Luddy, ServiceNow’s legendary founder and first CPO, and my friend and ex-colleague Chirantan ‘CJ’ Desai, who most recently served as President, CPO and COO. Both Fred and CJ have left an extraordinary legacy, and I’m committed to honoring and building on their incredible work,” Zavery said.
Zavery Google Cloud And Oracle History
Zavery was part of Google Cloud’s leadership team since 2019, reporting directly to Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.
As Google Cloud’s vice president and general manager and head of platform, Zavery was part of Google’s leadership team that grew the company into the fourth largest enterprise software company in the world along with increasing annualized revenue from $7 billion to over $41 billion.
He managed various teams and P&L areas around engineering, products, design, business planning, Google’s commerce platform and commercialization, such as pricing and programs.
Prior to Google, Zavery spent 24 years at Oracle, working alongside Kurian. He was executive vice president and corporate officer of product development for Oracle before leaving in 2019 for Google Cloud.
“I can’t wait to get started at ServiceNow on Monday and begin working with my new team, colleagues, customers, and partners on all their biggest challenges!” said Zavery.
