HPE’s Planned Morpheus Data Buy Will Give GreenLake Its ‘Next Major Leap’
‘With the acquisition of Morpheus Data, we will take the next major leap to make HPE GreenLake cloud the de facto platform for innovating across hybrid IT,’ says HPE’s Fidelma Russo.
HPE is making the “next major leap” in HPE GreenLake with the planned acquisition of hybrid cloud management and automation all-star Morpheus Data.
“With the acquisition of Morpheus Data, we will take the next major leap to make HPE GreenLake cloud the de facto platform for innovating across hybrid IT,” said Fidelma Russo, executive vice president and general manager, hybrid cloud, and CTO at HPE, in a statement.
Morpheus Data will enhance HPE GreenLake by providing multi-vendor, multi-cloud application provisioning, orchestration and automation, as well as FinOps capabilities for cloud cost optimization.
The Greenwood Village, Colo.-based company’s technology will be integrated within the HPE GreenLake cloud and HPE’s private cloud portfolios.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. HPE plans to close the deal by its fourth fiscal quarter 2024.
HPE’s Merger Plans For Morpheus Data
The Houston-based PC, cloud and infrastructure giant is seeking to evolve HPE GreenLake into a future-proof platform for managing virtualized, cloud-native and AI workloads.
Morpheus—which received a 5-Star rating in CRN’s 2024 Partner Program Guide—provides an agnostic cloud management platform designed to unify management of multi-cloud and hybrid IT while empowering DevOps teams with self-service provisioning of bare metal, virtual machine and container-based application services.
Morpheus Data enables customers to orchestrate and automate the full life-cycle management of applications across hybrid environments.
HPE plans to combine its multi-vendor, multi-cloud IT data with Morpheus Data’s FinOps capabilities to let customers understand their cloud spend, put guardrails around usage and optimize their workloads to lower costs.
“Enterprises urgently need a unified platform to simplify IT complexity and accelerate innovation, regardless of whether they use public or private cloud infrastructure,” said HPE’s Russo.
HPE GreenLake customers will soon be able to seamlessly provision and manage almost any workload across cloud environments, including brownfield private and public infrastructure.
