HP Moves Mobile Device Management To The Cloud

HP Cloud Services Enablement for Device Management as a Service (HP CSE for DMaaS) gives communications service providers a new tool to wrangle mobile devices. The service gives enterprise users an on-demand solution accessible through a secure, customizable Web portal that lets IT manage mobile devices and PCs via the cloud. Using over-the-air technology, devices can be configured, applications distributed, problems diagnosed, security policies enforced and data protected with full back-up and restore capabilities.

According to HP, the HP CSE for DMaaS offering helps companies reduce costs, complexity and risk while letting companies keep tabs on mobile workers.

Tim Marsden, HP's director of Communications and Media Solutions, said the solution lets service providers draw new customers and boost revenue while leveraging the explosion of cloud computing.

HP CSE for DMaaS is the third offering in HP's cloud portfolio for telco and service providers. Previously, the company launched a communications-as-a-service offering and an infrastructure-as-a-service offering.

HP CSE for DMaaS leverages HP's Aggregation Platform for SaaS, which acts as a mediation layer between HP Mobile Device Management, the service providers operation and business support system and the end-customer environment. The HP software automates key processes for mobile device management, like integrating and managing third-party SaaS services and other capabilities.

The core Mobile Device Management solution is provided by HP partner Mformation Technologies, which delivers mobile device management to many of the world's largest communication service providers.
