Morphlabs Beefs Up Cloud Management Play
Morphlabs has updated its cloud management platform, a move the company said will ease cloud administration and provisioning.
With the launch of mCloud Controller Version 2.5, Morphlabs also officially launched its Enterprise Cloud Architecture (ECA), a new approach to cloud management that simplifies the process of building and managing an internal cloud in an enterprise, effectively letting companies create their own private cloud infrastructure, said Wilson Damarillo, CEO of Morphlabs.
Damarillo said mCloud Controller Version 2.5 solves the key hurdles of private clouds: They're hard to provision and difficult to manage.
Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based Morphlabs' mCloud Controller is a platform, delivered as an appliance, which converts commodity hardware into a cloud environment. With the addition of ECA, version 2.5 gives enterprises access to the building blocks and binding components of a fault tolerant, elastic and automated platform. mCloud Controller Version 2.5 supports Java, Ruby on Rails and PHP.
While currently an appliance-only offering, Damarillo said that the mCloud Controller is moving toward a software-only offering in the very near future.
Version 2.5 with ECA includes uniform environments from development to production, simplified system administration, self-service resource provisioning and streamlined application management.
Overall, Damarillo said, mCloud Controller 2.5 enables IT organizations to rapidly deploy private clouds and manage virtualized resources and applications that run on that cloud environment.
"It's been optimized for enterprise use and priced for enterprise consumption," he said.
Along with the release of Version 2.5, Damarillo said Morphlabs also plans to bulk up its channel and is in conversations with partners and systems integrators as it brings mCloud Controller to market.
