Former Boomi CEO Takes Top Job At Mobile App Specialist
Bob Moul, the former CEO of Dell-acquired Boomi, has been named chairman and CEO of appRenaissance, a specialist in mobile application development and mobile infrastructure management products.
Moul's appointment was effective February 1. Before Boomi, he had been president of the $300 million global education solutions business at SCT, which was sold to SunGard in 2003, and group president at Maximus, from 2004 to 2005.
"AppRenaissance could not be more pleased to add Bob to our team and for Bob to help take the company to the next level," Scott Wasserman, AppRenaissance's founder and CTO, said in a statement Tuesday. "Bob has demonstrated a proven ability to innovate, scale, lead and succeed at building growth-based technology companies repeatedly over his 30-year career."
Based in Philadelphia, AppRenaissance's focus is the design, deployment and management of custom mobile applications. Its clients include the Pennsylvania Surplus Lines Association, TicketFly, and Austin City Limits Live.
Dell acquired Boomi, which specialized in cloud middleware, in November 2010, and launched a new Dell Boomi partner certification program in April 2011. The Boomi move was part of a wave of significant acquisitions made by Dell in the last few years to strengthen key businesses, including storage, networking, cloud software and infrastructure. Dell earlier in February created a new Software Group and confirmed the hire of former CA Technologies CEO John Swainson to run it.
