Canon To Inspect Copiers After Fire Reports

Canon was quoted as saying it was not recalling the copiers, which encompass roughly a dozen models sold worldwide. However, Canon said it would inspect the copiers free of charge and replace defective parts, said reports.

The problem involves power cord connections that could overheat and catch fire. Several instances of copiers overheating have occurred since 1992, according to reports.

Over the past month and a half, Dell, Apple Computer, and Matsushita have all announced recalls of lithium-ion battery packs used in notebook PCs, due to reports of overheating.
