New Red Hat-JBoss Application Stack Available Through Channel

The Raleigh, N.C. Linux leader's Red Hat Application Stack is based on JBoss and Red Hat Linux and is available via the Red Hat Network online service. The new stack and other JBoss subscriptions are available to roughly 500 Red Hat partners globally through Tech Data and Bell Micro, a spokeswoman for Red Hat said.

It is the first combined offering since Red Hat completed its acquisition of JBoss in June. The Linux company announced plans to acquire open source middleware giant JBoss in April.

The new Red Hat Application Stack is designed for running LAMP-based or Java-based applications and incorporates full support for for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Application Server, JBoss Hibernate and open source databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, Red Hat said.

The company's subscription model includes software, support, updates and upgrades for one price. The annual cost for Red Hat Application Stack with web-based support is $1,999, a Red Hat spokeswoman said. A subscription with telephone support during business hours costs $5,499 and a subscription with 24-hour by 7-day support for mission critical customers costs $8,499 per year, the spokeswoman said.
