Samsung Shines At CES With Business and Home Products
Samsung used CES to launch its A1 Ultra Premium ultra mobile PC. The device, aimed at the commercial market and frequent travelers, is an enhancement to Samsung's Q1 line with a 1.33 GHz Intel Core Solo Pentium CPU with 1GB of high-speed DDR2 system memory. Weighing in at a mere 2 pounds, the device has up to 7.5 hours of battery life and a split QWERTY keypad.
The Q1 Ultra line was launched last May and the latest incarnation includes 802.11 g/b Wi-Fi and Blutooth 2.0 and EDR connectivity along with its 80 GB hard drive, a fingerprint reader and a 1.3 megapixel camera, among other features. The Q1 Ultra Premium UMPC is available through resellers and retailers including Amazon.com, B&H Photo, Best Buy and Circuit City and retails for $1,399.
Samsung also launched a 70-inch professional LCD display designed for corporate and commercial digital signage applications. The SyncMaster 700 DXn is optimized for high ambient light conditions and features a digital information display panel that is designed to lower the temperature of the display to allow for use of more than 20 hours a day. The display features a 5000:1 dynamic contrast ration an 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. The SyncMaster 700DXn ships in February and is set to retail for $29,989.99 through resellers and distributors.
The SyncMaster 220TN monitor is Samsung's first VoIP-enabled network monitor featuring a built-in camera, microphone and speaker to allow users to web conference. The display, which has 1680 x 1050 high image resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, is priced at $1249.
For the multi-tasking business user, Samsung launched the 22-inch SyncMaster 2263 DX LCD monitor with a 7-inch monitor connected to the side to allow users to do primary tasks on the large screen and keep smaller applications like instant messaging in the much smaller side display. The seven-inch attached screen pivots to allow it to be positioned wherever the user requires. The 2263DX is optimized to work with Microsoft's Office Communicator 2007 software and has a high-resolution 2.0 megapixel Web cam, a dual-array microphone and speakers. The larger screen offers higher resolution than the small with resolutions of 1680 x 1050 and 800 x 480 respectively. The 2263 DX starts at $549.99.
Samsung also launched several printers at CES including a network color laser printer for the SMB market, the CLP - 610ND, with a 360 MHz processor and up to 384 MB RAM. The CLP - 610ND retails at $399.99.
Samsung unveiled two color multifunction printers, the CLX - 6200FX and CLX - 6210FX, also designed for business use, and two ultra-compact printers, the monochrome single function ML - 1630 and the multi-function SCX - 4500.
