Acer To Channel: More Margin, Less Competition
Acer also made note of its lack of a direct sales force twice in the letter to channel partners.
"As the #2 worldwide notebook PC provider (#3 overall) and ONLY worldwide PC OEM not to have a direct sales force, Acer is making it a little more profitable for resellers in the United States," the company's letter from Rich Black, director of marketing for Acer America, reads.
"One important thing you as a valued channel partner should know about Acer America is that we're committed to selling our products through the channel. We do not compete with you by selling direct," Acer said.
Through August 31, Acer America is offering authorized resellers a 3 percent back-end rebate on its TravelMate and Extensa notebook computers, a 4 percent rebate on several of its desktop computers and 2 percent back on its B series and 26-inch X series LCD displays.
Qualified products will be shipped through distribution "while quantities last," Acer said.
Resellers can get more information on Acer's partner portal, and resellers who join Acer's program are also eligible for the rebates.
Eligible products are: TravelMate 6292, 5720, 5520 and 4720 notebooks, Extensa 5620, 4620 and 4220 notebooks, Veriton L460, L410 and M260 desktop computers and the Acer B243W brd, B223W bdmr, B203W bdmr, X263Wbi and B193 family LDC displays.
