Kyocera Adds Customizable Apps To Taskalfa MFPs
The slew of new apps has been added to the company's HyPAS (Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions) software platform, which is based on Web services and Java technology.
The PanelPlus app is a software tool that lets Kyocera dealers develop and deploy custom operation panel interfaces for end-user customers. PanelPlus also provides the integration of assigned settings to automate scanning tasks or workflows. In addition, PanelPlus boosts printer performance by providing preprogrammed one-touch buttons that include scan to e-mail, scan to SMB (PC) or scan to FTP destinations.
Yet another new app integrates Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express products for print tracking and cost recovery.
The third app, the Kyocera PrintQ Manager (PQM) Secure Print Release, provides Windows users with advanced print management and security for Taskalfa MFPs. PrintQ Manager, which is embedded in HyPAS-enabled devices, provides end users with features such as print authentication and authorization management using Active Directory. The PQM Secure Print Release also provides an easy-to-navigate user interface, print job release directly from the device panel, more robust reporting capabilities and HID card authentication support.
Another new app provides advanced integration with Open Text Fax Server, which lets users scan and send documents directly from Taskalfa Kyocera MFPs via the RightFax server. The app enables companies to securely send information from virtually any application via fax, e-mail, a Kyocera device or over the Internet.
Finally, Kyocapture, powered by AutoStore, is a document capture workflow solution that enables organizations to capture, process and route paper and electronic-based documents to almost any document management system. Kyocapture is an open-architecture middleware solution that acts as a gateway for documents to be stored, shared, searched and retrieved throughout the network.
The Kyocapture HyPAS component includes Embedded Network Authentication (Active Directory, Novell, Custom, LDAP), customizable icons, editable lists, searchable lists, folder browsing capability, advanced bidirectional lookup and .Net scripting.
Kyocera said that, down the road, it will launch additional HyPAS applications, including scanning utility apps for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as a new suite of security tools.
