HP Powers Up Enterprise-Targeted All-In-One PC

“We’ve been in the AIO business for a couple of years now and we’re confident this new mainstream AIO PC for the enterprise customer is going to fit very well into health care, education and into a lot of our corporate enterprise accounts in banking and finance,” said Kirk Godkin, manager of HP’s Americas Business PC and Monitors/Displays unit.

The Compaq 6000 Pro All-in-One features a 21.5-inch HD display, though it’s not a touchscreen as is the case with Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP’s consumer AIOs. The new PC offers configurablility for up to 1 terabyte of hard disk storage, Windows 7 and Windows XP Pro options, optional discrete graphics and standard-issue FireWire.

The system is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with Intel’s standard system management features enabled -- providing “90 percent of what vPro does,” according to Godkin, minus the remote KVM management capabilities of the current generation of Intel’s vPro hardware.

HP built in “some clear differences” with competitors’ AIO products, Godkin said. For example, the Compaq 6000 Pro All-in-One features some options for eliminating certain features that should appeal to some enterprise customers.

“The Web cam is optional. So instead of an on/off switch or taping over the cam if you don’t want it, we eliminate it for you. And we will disable all the USB ports directly at the factory, instead of the customer using super glue to fill them,” he said.

Lenovo was first out of the gates with an enterprise-targeted All-in-One PC earlier this month, the ThinkCentre M90z.
