Report: HP CEO Announcement Coming Soon
HP's board has narrowed the list of possible candidates down to Vyomesh Joshi, head of HP’s printer business; Todd Bradley, head of the PC division; Dave Donatelli, manager of the storage and server unit; Tom Hogan, executive vice president of enterprise sales and marketing; and Ann Livermore, executive vice president of the enterprise business, according to Bloomberg's source,
HP is still considering hiring a new CEO from outside the company but isn't planning to lure an executive from a rival company, according to Bloomberg's source, who said HP may announce its decision in the coming week. Oracle, of course, had no such hesitation about hiring Hurd and appointing him as its co-president in the wake of Charles Phillips' departure.
Ever since Hurd resigned from HP in early August, HP partners have been speculating about his replacement. They'd like to see HP bring in a decisive leader who's as channel friendly as Hurd. Todd Bradley, executive vice president of HP's Personal Systems Group, is one name that often comes up.
Apple COO Tim Cook, who runs Apple's global sales and operations, including end-to-end supply chain management, sales activities, and service and support internationally has also been mentioned as a possible outside candidate. Cook also has extensive experience working with the channel, with Compaq and IBM. Oracle's Charles Phillips, Silver Lake's Charlie Giancarlo, and Cisco's Ned Hooper have also been mentioned as possible successors from outside HP.
