Explosion At Intel Fab Injures Seven
Four workers were transported to local hospitals and were treated for injuries ranging from concussions to shrapnel wounds, while three others were treated at the scene, Reuters reported.
Sgt. Joseph Favazzo of the Chandler Police Department confirmed that police responded to an explosion at the Intel plant Tuesday but could provide no further details. Intel could not be reached for comment.
The blast occurred at one of two large Intel campuses in Chandler, southeast of Phoenix, where Intel manufactures microchips, apparently starting in a chemical storage room, Reuters reported. The building will remain closed indefinitely.
An Intel spokesperson said the explosion will not affect the company’s chip production, The Wall Street Journal reported.
