Shock Hazard Prompts Lexmark Recall

No injuries have been reported. Instead, the recall "is being conducted to prevent the possibilities of incidents or injury," according to the CPSC Web site.

The recall affects Lexmark models E232, E232t, E330, E332n, E332tn; Dell models 1700 and 1700n and IBM Infoprint models 1412 and 1412n. The printers were sold between May and August 2004, for a list of $200.

Lexmark printers reached consumers through its distributors and via electronic, office supply and computer retail stores. Dell customers would have bought their printers through Dell's online storefront. And IBM sold the printers through its authorized distributors and resellers, as well as through its own Web site.

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately unplug their printers, then contact their printer vendor to register for a free replacement.
