8 Cool AI PC Applications You Can Use Now
CRN rounds up eight cool AI PC applications you can use now, which range from an AI assistant that can analyze and summarize private documents to applications for live video production, DJing, image editing and audio deepfake detection.
While the first AI PCs started to hit the market more than year ago, the initial wave of end-user applications that can take advantage of such devices have only started to become available in the past several months.
These applications go beyond the exclusive AI features available on Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs, which initially only supported Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors and are now expanding support to the latest Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen AI chips.

They’re also a step above what’s available with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s suite of AI features that debuted on Mac computers powered by M-series chips in addition to the most recent generations of iPhones and iPads.
Software availability has been cited by industry analysts and solution provider executives as one impediment to adoption of AI PCs, CRN reported earlier this week.
“Right now, a lot of IT managers, a lot of the tech vendors themselves are a bit hard-pressed to elucidate three killer use cases, especially ones that are sort of enterprise-facing,” said Linn Huang, research vice president for displays and devices at research firm IDC.
But Microsoft, Apple and a growing number of ISVs are starting to change that with applications and features designed to take advantage of the processor’s neural processing unit (NPU), which is becoming increasingly present in business and consumer PCs.
Many more applications are expected to arrive in the coming months, thanks in part to efforts by tech giants like Intel, which is working with more than 100 ISVs to enable over 300 AI-powered features on AI PCs through its AI PC Acceleration Program.
But let’s cut to the chase. If you own a PC with an NPU (or Neural Engine, in Apple’s parlance), which applications can you use now to see what an AI PC is capable of?
What follows are eight AI PC applications that are available to use now on Mac computers with M-series chips or Windows PCs with processors that include an NPU. These range from an AI assistant that can analyze and summarize private documents to applications for live video production, DJing, image editing and audio deepfake detection.
Generate By Iterate.ai
Generate is an AI assistant from Iterate.ai that can analyze and summarize data from private documents as well as generate entire reports, among other things. Called a “secure AI manager” application, Generate relies on the PC’s processor including its NPU and memory to run retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases and large language models for a variety of generative AI use cases that are meant to improve productivity. Generate, which currently supports Intel Core Ultra chips, costs $20 per user, per month.
McAfee Deepfake Detector
McAfee Deepfake Detector is a program that runs in the PC’s background and automatically alerts users “within seconds if AI-altered audio is detected in videos.” The application is currently available exclusively on select Lenovo AI PCs, and it relies on the processor’s NPU to perform audio analysis locally. The model powering the application is trained on nearly 200,000 sound samples and counting. It costs $9.99 for the first year.
Cephable
Cephable is an assistive tech platform that allows users to use voice, facial expressions, head motions and virtual buttons to control Windows or MacOS applications. The program relies on neural networks to translate voice and motions into a variety of actions, and it uses the processor’s NPU to offload such workloads from the CPU and speed them up. While the program is free for individual users, it’s also available for businesses with enterprise management features as well as an API and software development kit.
Luminar Neo
Luminar Neo is an image editor with AI-enhanced features, including Supersharp AI and Upscale AI, which take advantage of the processor’s NPU for significantly faster performance. The application is supported by MacOS and Windows PCs, the latter of which includes Copilot+ PCs powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors. A lifetime perpetual license is $577 while a 12-month subscription costs $421 without any discounts.
Djay Pro
Djay Pro is a DJing application that allows DJs to play sets using their equipment from a PC. Available for MacOS and Windows, the application includes a feature called Neural Mix that uses the processor’s NPU to “instantly isolate beats, instruments and vocals of any songs” with the purpose of remixing those elements from “multiple tracks in real time.” Supported processors for Windows PCs include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X and AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series. The software is free to download, and there is a subscription for additional features.
DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve is a comprehensive video editing application that also includes features for visual effects, motion graphics, color correction and audio post processing. The latest version of the software takes advantage of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite’s NPU in Copilot+ PCs to significantly speed up the performance of AI tools like magic mask and smart reframe, thanks to the DaVinci Neural AI Engine. DaVinci Resolve is free to download, and the professional version, DaVinci Resolve Studio, costs $235.
BufferZone NoCloud AI Anti-Phishing
BufferZone’s NoCloud AI anti-phishing detection solution is an extension for Chrome and Edge web browsers that is part of the Safe Workspace suite of endpoint security solution. The extension is designed to stop phishing attacks by detecting malicious sites that are trying to steal information. It relies on the NPU inside the processor—namely, the Intel Core Ultra processor—to improve performance, lower detection latency and decrease operational costs compared to cloud-based solutions. Safe Workspace is available to purchase through Lenovo or Lenovo resellers. Pricing was not available.
Camo
Camo is a live video production application that allows users to fine-tune their appearance by adjusting the camera controls and applying filters and other effects. The software takes advantage of the NPU inside processors such as AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series, Intel’s Core Ultra series and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series to handle Camo’s AI features. Camo is free to download, but a $49.99 per year subscription is required to unlock pro features.
