Orsyp Inks Deal With Government VAR Superstar Carahsoft
The pact paves the way for Orsyp's workload scheduler to be sold with HP Operations Manager (OM), formerly OpenView, in the HP software sales unit at Carahsoft.
The job scheduling functionality gives Carahsoft's HP Software sales unit the job scheduling muscle to score wins against IT management competitors with job scheduling capabilities like CA, said Melany Smith, the director at Carahsoft who oversees the HP software sales portfolio.
The Orsyp job scheduling functionality fills a gap in the HP Operations Manager suite and seamlessly integrates with third party software including VMware, Oracle and SAP, said Smith. "Orsyp is the glue between all these systems," she said.
Smith said the Orsyp product will provide a significant boost to continue the HP software unit's sales momentum. Carahsoft, which has received multiple awards for its sales performance including several CRN Fast Growth awards, was HP's largest federal government reseller in 2009.
Carahsoft's success lies in its ability to dramatically increase the sales of complex software infrastructure products into the government marketplace, said Orsyp Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Mark Fletcher. He said he has seen countless VARs struggle with complex software product sales.
"We feel lucky as a small independent company to have such a strong relationship with Carahsoft and HP," said Fletcher. "This is huge. Carahsoft has the right model. The right people. The right mentality and the right business model to take this to market and bring it to their customers. It's like no other sales machine I have seen before."
Smith said she expects to receive formal GSA approval for the Orsyp product in the next several weeks.
The HP software sales team is also seeing strong sales prospects in the state and local government market through Carahsoft's State procurement contract for states from The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN), said Smith.
