Emerging Edge Computing And IoT Vendors To Know In 2022

Edge computing and the Internet of Things remain one of the most quickly evolving segments of the IT industry. Here are three startups solution providers should know who are developing leading-edge technologies in edge computing and IoT.

Living On The (IT) Edge

Edge computing and the Internet of Things remain two of the fastest growing segments of the IT industry.

Edge computing is a new distributed computing model that puts compute and data storage capabilities close to data sources. A recent report from MarketsandMarkets forecasts that the global market for edge computing hardware, software and services will increase at a CAGR of 19.0 percent from $36.5 billion in 2021 to $87.3 billion in 2026.

The global market for IoT hardware, software and services, meanwhile, reached $300.3 billion last year and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.7 percent to $650.5 billion in 2026, also according to a MarketsandMarkets forecast.

Major vendors such as Cisco Systems and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are major players in the edge computing and IoT space. But given that both technologies are in the relatively early stages of their development, startups developing edge computing and IoT products are playing an outsized role in defining what the future of edge and IoT look like.

As part of CRN’s Emerging Vendors for 2022, here’s a look at three startups, founded in 2016 or later, that are developing edge computing and IoT technologies that solution providers can use to build solutions for their customers.
