SolarWinds Acquisition Of N-Able Leads To Growth For MSPs

SolarWinds acquired RMM and MSP Service Automation company N-able Technologies, and N-able Vice President Derik Belair told CRN it was just about the best thing that could happen to the company.

Since the acquisition deal in late spring of 2013, "the growth has been phenomenal," Belair said. Belair cited a record year in managed services business and N-able's 3,300-partner-strong channel program.

"One of the things that N-Able’s always been known for in the channel is helping service providers develop their programs -- not just core managed services," Belair said. While N-Central remote monitoring remains the company's core business, backup and ticketing solution services are also growing.

"Those tools tend to be very profitable for the MSP," Belair said.

With many traditional resellers looking to expand recurring revenue, Belair said the audience for managed services has "widened greatly," and that the company is seeing a lot more specialized service providers -- like printing service providers.

For that expanding market, N-able will launch its new N-Central 10.0 early on in the second quarter of fiscal year 2015. Belair said the release is the first to have SolarWinds' "fingerprints all over it."

While the details are still under wraps, Belair said, "We're incredibly excited; it will be a huge release for us."
