Apple Tablet Rumors Rage On
The tablet will be less than $1,000, somewhere between $799 and $999 -- pricey compared with other small, popular Apple products that are in the $300 range. However, the price is a bargain compared with some tablets already on the market. Many of those units have keyboards, though. Apple's tablet reportedly will have a 9.6-inch touch-based display by WinTek, which supplies the iPhone and iPod Touch displays.
Despite iPhone users' gripes about the AT&T network, it seems at this juncture that Apple is continuing the relationship. That may be due to the extensive investment the two companies have made to better serve iPhone users and address their complaints.
The Apple tablet's chipset will be designed by P.A. Semi, an Apple-owned manufacturer. That company started recruiting chip designers earlier this year. In addition, the report noted that DynaPack International Technology will be the exclusive supplier of 300,000 units of long-lasting battery packs a month -- a pretty large number.
