That 1.7 million embarrasses previous iPhone launches; the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S were lucky to hit a measly million in their first three days, and the original iPhone needed more than two months to hit the magic million mark.

But you can't please all the people all the time. And the iPhone 4, despite the long lines and the lack of supply to meet the overwhelming demand, is now the focus of ire for many users who have found some issues in their first few days with the must-have smartphone.

The key gripe currently is the rapid loss of cellular signal when the Apple iPhone 4 is held a certain way. Without warning, boom, the call is lost. Apple acknowledged the issue and turned the tables on its faithful users with a flippant "don't hate the player, hate the game" type of response, essentially telling iPhone 4 users not to hold their new iPhone in a way that could block the new and oft-hyped external antennae.

Then there's the lack of the white version of the iPhone 4. While in recent revisions the black iPhone has become the favored device, white is where it all started. The white iPhone is as iconic as it is symbolic. And it's nowhere to be found. Apple issued a brief statement highlighting the whereabouts of its white whale: "White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected," Apple wrote.

And now there are reports that some Apple iPhone 4 models are suffering from discoloration of their displays. According to reports and photos published by Gizmodo, users are noticing yellow splotches on the screens of their Apple iPhone 4. Apply put a lot of weight on the clarity and pop of its new Retina display that's supposed to resemble the way the human eye sees. Looks like this Retina has a few cataracts.

Another Apple iPhone 4 complaint is of reversed volume buttons, which have the button to decrease volume on top and the one to increase volume below, according to Boy Genius Report. Users are also having trouble with the proximity sensor on the iPhone 4. According to one Apple iPhone user forum, the proximity sensor isn't detecting when users are holding the iPhone to their ear, which is resulting on accidental hang-ups, muting, accidental calling and private calls being broadcast via speakerphone.

The Apple iPhone 4's FaceTime video chat program and double cameras, two of the highly coveted features of the new iPhone, also aren't without its troubles. Users have reported the camera freezing and being unable to take a picture, while FaceTime has crashed and frozen, according to MercuryNews.com.

The Apple iPhone 4 issues also come after Apple struggled to meet the demand during a botched pre-order for the smartphone. Apple and AT&T launched iPhone 4 pre-orders on June 15. However, the supply couldn't meet the demand and AT&T was forced to suspend pre-orders altogether while Apple pushed the arrival date of the iPhone 4 with the first wave of pre-orders being delivered on launch date, June 24, and the rest arriving either July 2 or July 15.
