Photos Shed New Light On Google Android-Based Samsung Galaxy Tab
Chinese site ifanr.com posted a host of images showing the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab running Android 2.2, or Froyo, the latest version of the Google Android operating system. The images also highlight the Galaxy Tab's on-screen keyboard and its charging and data syncing cable, which looks very similar to the charger used on the Apple iPad and the Apple iPhone.
The Chinese site also indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Tab sports 1,023 x 600 pixel resolution, a 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G network access and its own e-book application.
The new details come on the heels of a a leaked European firmware update that added more fuel to the Samsung Android tablet fire last week. In that instance, the P10000XXJH3 firmware update highlighted that Samsung's P1000 Galaxy Tab would run Froyo, but added that the screen would feature resolution of 480 x 800 with camera resolution of 2,048 x 1,536. It also is expected to sport an ARM11 processor using a SP5PC110 core running at 1GHz.
In addition, early specs indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will feature a Flash player, an edge over the non-Flash iPad; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support; and Swype screen technology.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab also is expected to feature 16 GB of storage with a microSD slot able to support 32 GB. It is expected to hit the U.S. sometime in the fall.
