Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CRN.

Following the initial closures in March 2020, Apple had reopened and closed certain stores on several different occasions as the effects of the pandemic evolved.

For instance, Apple had begun to reopen stores en masse in May of 2020, but subsequently had to close some stores again. In July 2020, Apple re-closed 30 stores in states such as California and Florida.

According to Apple’s website, health and safety precautions at retail stores include touchless temperature checks, limited store occupancy and “continuous” deep cleaning. Masks are required and will be provided if needed, according to the site.

In a letter to customers dated May 17 of last year—but still posted on Apple’s retail store website—the company said it’s also offering curbside pickup and dropoff at “many” stores.

Even with the hindrance to its retail operations, Apple has managed to generate strong growth in its business--thanks in part to the increased demand for devices such as Macs and iPads amid widespread working and learning from home.

For Apple’s fiscal first quarter 2021, ended Dec. 26, 2020, the company reported an all-time record for quarterly revenue, with sales rising 21.3 percent to reach $111.44 billion.
