In the growing wearables space, Israel-based Lumus aims to be the ’Intel Inside’ of smart glasses like Google Glass.
’Lumus is an optics company that enables see-through wearable displays,’ said Vice President Ari Grobman.
’Basically any player making smart glasses, we want them to be using our optical engine technology,’ he said.
Through the technology, users can overlay information on the real-world environment through use of the glasses. Grobman predicts soon users will be able to control the glasses through voice or gesture commands, but right now they must depend on a connected device.
Lumus’ patented Reflective Optical Waveguide provides a very wide view on the optical engines, which come in a variety of models and can be fitted to any design of smart glasses.
’We also have applications for industrial companies,’ said Grobman, who cited the medical field as another vertical for smart glasses.
Grobman said smart glasses can also be used in intra-warehouse logistics to keep stock.
