Sprint Intros Pocket PC/Wireless Phone, Available Via Channel
The Windows Mobile-based PCS phone is a Hitachi Model SH-G1000 that combines the functionality of a Pocket PC with wireless data applications delivered via Sprint's nationwide PCS network.
Available now, the device is priced at $649.99. The phone comes with Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs including Excel, Outlook, Word, Windows, Media Player, ActiveSync, Inbox and MSN Messenger; 32 Mbytes of memory; a 400MHz Intel XScale processor; a 65K thin-film transistor color display; and a built-in Qwerty keypad and scroll dial.
The phone also has a rotating video graphics array-quality digital camera and has a secure digital expansion slot for multimedia cards.
Other features include voice-controlled dialing, speaker phone and an embedded GPS chip for upcoming location-based services.
The device will be sold direct by Sprint and indirect through the Sprint Business Dealer Network and the PCS Business Solutions Program, according to the company.
