Palm Picks New Name For Hardware Business

The palmOne business includes the company's handheld hardware and software solutions, including handhelds Zire and Tungsten and the Handspring smartphone Treo, pending the close of its acquisition of Handspring this fall.

The Palm operating systems business will continue to be called PalmSource.

Palm, Milpitas, Calif., announced plans to acquire Handspring in June in a stock transaction worth about $168 million.
