HP Appoints New Head Of ProCurve Networking

The appointment follows the departure earlier this month of John McHugh, vice president and worldwide general manager of the organization.

McHugh is credited with leading ProCurve's rise from a virtual start-up to a $1 billion plus contender in the networking marketplace, competing in the crowded field to be a strong second to market leader Cisco Systems, of San Jose, Calif.

McHugh also built ProCurve's channel organization from the ground up as a separate independent unit within a dedicated specialized network infrastructure force of 4,500 registered solution providers.

Haas previously served as senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at HP, Palo Alto, Calif. HP, in a statement, said that Hass has led initiatives that focused on improving efficiency and driving growth at HP. He came to HP with its acquisition of Compaq, and previously worked at Intel, of Santa Clara, Calif.

"Marius has a tremendous track record of executing against HP's key strategic initiatives," said Robison, in the statement. "He is the right leader to continue driving ProCurve's aggressive market share gains."

HP also appointed Brian Humphries to take over for Haas as senior vice president of strategy and corporate development.
