Ooma Acquires UCaaS Provider Voxter To Pursue Larger, Midmarket, Enterprise Customers
VoIP provider Ooma revealed on Monday that it would acquire unified communications as a service provider Voxter Communications in a move that will help Ooma reach larger businesses with its cloud-based solutions.
Five-year-old Ooma offers cloud-based voice and collaboration solutions, as well as desk phones to small business customers. Ooma also offers voice products and home security solutions to consumers. The latest acquisition will expand Ooma's portfolio to customers of any size seeking customizable UCaaS solutions, according to the company.
Financial details of the acquisition are not being disclosed, the two companies said.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Ooma unveiled its channel program in 2016, and the provider has been actively growing its partner ecosystem ever since, targeting IT consultants, systems integrators, managed service providers and VARs.
Privately-held Voxter, based in Vancouver, has its channel program. Voxter partners will join the Ooma partner ecosystem, a spokesperson for Ooma told CRN. Voxter offers business VoIP, video, contact center, and headsets to midmarket and enterprise clients.
The merger will allow Ooma to scale its flagship Ooma Office product for more business customers. Ooma Office combines hardware-based desk phones, IP phones, or the Ooma Office app with a cloud-based voice architecture.
"With the addition of Voxter, Ooma can now serve larger businesses with highly customizable solutions that uniquely meet their individual needs, in addition to serving small businesses with the award-winning Ooma Office platform," said Eric Stang, CEO of Ooma. "Together, Voxter and Ooma bring deep expertise in cloud-based voice technology, increased scale, and stronger solutions for channel partners."
The transaction, according to Ooma, is slated to close later this month. Ooma is expected to report its Q4 2017 financial results after the market closes on Tuesday.
