3Com Sales Exec Leaves

Ganio's departure comes one week after 3Com reported fiscal first-quarter revenue of $162.3 million, essentially flat compared with year-ago results, and a loss of $35.5 million.

"We are disappointed with our revenue performance from the last few quarters and believe that a change in our sales leadership is in order," 3Com President and CEO Bruce Claflin said in a statement. Claflin said he will take over responsibility for sales and marketing activities until a replacement for Ganio is named.

Ganio's exit also follows a shift in 3Com's channel strategy that dramatically raised volume requirements for its Focus Partner Program. As a result of the new terms, which became effective Sept. 1, 3Com halved its partner ranks in the top two tiers of the program.
