ePlus Expands Cybersecurity Reach With Future Com Acquisition
“We have a half-billion dollars in security revenue, including services and solutions. What they do bring is additional services people who can help us. … And they have the ability to bring our other services to their customers in security, managed services, and staffing capabilities. We feel pretty good about it,” says ePlus CEO and President Mark Marron.
Global solution provider ePlus Technology Monday said it has acquired Future Com, a Grapevine, Texas-based provider of cybersecurity, cloud security, and security consulting services in a move to expand its security reach and its Texas business.
Future Com doesn’t necessarily bring ePlus any new cybersecurity capabilities, but instead expands its resources and capabilities while giving it a bigger Texas footprint, said ePlus CEO and President Mark Marron.
“We have a half-billion dollars in security revenue, including services and solutions,” Marron told CRN. “What they do bring is additional services people who can help us. … And they have the ability to bring our other services to their customers in security, managed services, and staffing capabilities. We feel pretty good about it.”

Marron declined to put a dollar value on the acquisition, which closed July 16. However, he said the company is profitable. Future Com brings 25 employees to ePlus.
For Herndon, Va.-based ePlus, a $1.8-billion annual revenue solution provider ranked No. 30 on the CRN Solution Provider 500, Future Com is its first acquisition in 2022, although the company has done multiple acquisitions over the years, Marron said. “Most are small tuck-unders,” he said.
ePlus uses multiple ways to find potential acquisitions, including working with brokers, vendor partners who make recommendations, and an internal mergers and acquisitions team, Marron said.
Douglas Hollenshead, Future Com’s president and CEO and now ePlus’ regional vice president leading sales and services in ePlus’ south central region, said in a prepared statement that joining ePlus team is an exciting next step for Future Com and its employees.
“We have decades of specialized experience helping our customers navigate the evolving cyber security landscape and new emerging threats. Being acquired by ePlus means that our customers now have access to the expanded capabilities and deeper breadth of resources a global provider can offer,” Hollenshead said.
