StillSecure Touts Flagship Updates
New features in StillSecure Safe Access v3.5, its endpoint compliance tool, include an integration framework that allows for deeper customization. The latest edition of the company's vulnerability management offering, StillSecure VAM v5.3, features both an extensible plug-in architecture as well as a new analysis module. And StillSecure Border Guard v4.5, its intrusion-detection and prevention system, includes a new multimode manager that lets managed security services providers (MSSPs) segregate and manage accounts for different customers or different divisions of a customer. All three updates are due before the end of July.
Mitchell Ashley, CTO and vice president of customer experience for StillSecure, Louisville, Colo., said the most recent updates enable VARs to more easily integrate other products or data sources with their product lines. For example, Safe Access version 3.5 includes Safe Access Enterprise Integration Framework, which opens up the product to other intrusion-detection and prevention systems as well as network management products, vulnerability management tools and security information managers. StillSecure VAM also includes an integration framework, dubbed VAM Extensible Security Plug-in Architecture.
The products can be purchased separately, although the vendor encourages customers to deploy them as a suite and with other technologies. "The emphasis on integration here is on being able to provide automated responses to threats," Ashley said.
Don Wisdom, president of Datalink Networks, a regional systems integrator in Valencia, Calif., said this is a shift that appeals to his customers. "Security is a holistic type of practice," he said.
Pricing for StillSecure VAM starts at $53 per IP address, while StillSecure Safe Access starts at $40 per user. StillSecure Border Guard is priced starting at $9,000 for the enterprise edition and $39,000 for the Gigabit Ethernet version.
StillSecure also formally launched a program for MSSPs last week.
Kevin Prince, president of Red Cliff Solutions, an MSSP in Salt Lake City, said Border Guard is part of his company's managed intrusion-detection offering for financial services companies. The new multimode feature in the product will be invaluable for that offering, he said.
