AMS Launches Security Unit With Application Focus

AMS

Jeff Johnson, former vice president of managed services and business development at security firm Vigilinx, is heading the unit. He was previously CEO of security provider Metases.

Instead of taking the traditional approach to security, which focuses on network perimeter defense, AMS will focus on securing applications, Johnson said.

"We'll assess, design and develop your applications or retrofit your legacy applications," he said.

Embedding safeguards in applications is critical and will reduce the investment a company needs to make in perimeter security, Johnson said.

Services cover the full life cycle, he said. They include policy development to ensure applications are built and managed securely, secure software design, application intrusion prevention and business continuity planning to recover data in the event of a break-in, he said.

Johnson said the company is targeting the B2B and B2C applications of large enterprises, particularly in banking and finance, the public sector, communications/media and health care.

The new business unit will have about 175 employees and already has a pipeline of projects, he said.
