TippingPoint Extends Intrusion-Prevention Product Line

The Austin, Texas-based company also launched a 50-Mbps system for small businesses and remote offices, dubbed the UnityOne-50.

Both security appliances were announced at this week's RSA conference San Francisco. TippingPoint President and COO James Hamilton said the products will be available for channel distribution by the third quarter of this year. Both systems inaugurate the company's new strategy of expanding its product line to target large enterprises, service providers and small- to medium-size businesses.

Hamilton claimed the 5-Gbit UnityOne device is the most powerful IPS in the industry. The device comes with eight 1-Gbit Ethernet ports protecting up to four network segments.

The UnityOne-50 comes equipped with two Ethernet ports protecting one network segment, he added.

Both appliances can be automatically updated with the latest vulnerability Virtual Software Patches through TippingPoint's Digital Vaccine service. As with all UnityOne products, both offer standard TippingPoint features such as application protection, performance protection and infrastructure protection.
