Sony Offers Biometric Devices For Small Businesses, SOHO
The FIU-600 Puppy, a follow-on to the enterprise-aimed FIU-710 device, comes bundled with a security suite that lets users lock systems, and restrict access to specific Web sites and software on the machine. It connects to a Windows-based PC or Mac running OS X through a USB port.
Putting a finger to the FIU-600 unlocks the system, or gives access to secured sites and applications, eliminating the need for passwords or PINs, said Sony.
The FIU-600 can also be integrated with an enterprise security system. Its fingerprint templates can be stored on a central corporate database.
Priced at $140 for the Windows version and $160 for the Mac edition, the FIU-600 is available now.
