Symantec, Sun Beef Up iForce Intrusion Detection Appliances
Now available in seven models -- compared to the quartet at the iForce appliance debut in April, 2003 -- the device relies on ManHunt 3.0 to protect against both known and unknown (so-called 'zero-day') attacks, defend against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, and detect protocol anomalies. The original editions of the appliance used Symantec's ManHunt 2.2.
The appliance is based on Sun's Fire V60x server and runs a hardened edition of Sun's Solaris OS x86 Platform Edition.
Available in versions that handle traffic at speeds from 100Mbps to 2Gbps, prices for the refreshed appliances start at $12,500.
