Linksys Rolls Out Two Small-Office VPN Routers

The RVS4000 gigabit security router with VPN and the RVL200 4-port SSL/IPSec VPN router are designed to meet divergent small business and SOHO needs. Offering 1000 Mbps networking on all of its four ports, the RVS4000 can support five simultaneous IPSec tunnels. The unit includes and integrated intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/IPS) and Linksys' Stateful Packet Inspection firewall.

The RVL200 offers a 4-Port 10/100 switch supporting up to 200Mbps of throughput per port with built-in support for up to five remote Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN sessions. The unit provides IP filtering allows features protection against denial of service (DoS) attacks. Users can configure a demilitarized zone (DMZ) on any port.

According to Linksys Small Business Solutions product marketing director David Tucker, the new routers are designed to answer the increasingly complex networking and security needs of small business. "Small businesses are becoming more demanding of the features that their network provides because of the applications and capabilities that the Internet enables," he said in a statement. "We wanted small businesses to take advantage of what the Internet can do for their business while keeping them as secure as possible. We believe our routers provide that for small businesses."

Both routers are available now. The RVS4000 sells at an estimated price of $129, while the RVL200 will sell for about $199.
