Websense 3Q Profit Dips 16 Percent
The San Diego-based vendor's net earnings during the quarter were $8.53 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with $10.1 million, or 21 cents a share during the same quarter last year.
Analysts from Thomson First Call had expected earnings of 23 cents per share.
Websense's revenue jumped 20 percent during the quarter to $46.1 million, up from $38.1 million from a year ago.
The results reflected strong performance overseas as well as "renewed growth" in North America, according to Websense CEO Gene Hodges.
Websense added 2.1 million subscription seats over the past four quarters and now has a total of 24.5 million seats.
For the fourth quarter, Websense expects adjusted earnings minus stock options expenses of between 24 and 25 cents per share.
Analysts expect fourth quarter adjusted earnings of 24 cents per share on revenue of $47.3 million.
