Logicalis US Launches Cisco XDR As A Managed Service

‘Cisco is advocating a comprehensive, all-encompassing suite of security tools which they’re bundling as XDR. We’re offering the ability to manage that XDR implementation,’ says Arron Marchese, senior director of architecture at Logicalis US.

Logicalis Thursday said it has become the first global technology service provider to bring Cisco’s XDR (extended detection and response) technology to market as a managed service.

The new managed extended detection and response, or MXDR, technology is part of the new Intelligent Security portfolio launched earlier this week by Logicalis US, ranked No. 68 on the CRN 2024 Solution Provider 500.

The MXDR services are managed via Logicalis’ global network of four Security Operations Centers, said Arron Marchese, senior director of architecture for Troy, Mich.-based Logicalis US.

Marchese, who works with principal security architects in Logicalis US’s hybrid cloud practice, told CRN that his company has developed what he calls an “intelligent security blueprint.”

The intelligent security blueprint is a collection of products and services that Logicalis bundled together to cover the full spectrum of security capabilities, he said.

“Whether it be at the programmatic or CISO level, all the way down to the individual elements of network, server and storage, we've developed services and offers that provide comprehensive security up and down that layer,” he said. “The intelligent security blueprint really represents the collection of those goods and services that we can bring to bear for the benefit of our clients.”

The idea of the intelligent security blueprint was making it easy to select goods and services that fit into the lane of secure capabilities Logicalis offers, Marchese said.

“For instance, inside of secure connectivity, we’ve got different products and services that make sure you’ve got a secure connection between your primary data center, your remote offices, or, for instance, Azure cloud,” he said. “The blueprint is really meant to address different operational areas through different goods and services that Logicalis offers. And that’s why it’s a blueprint because you don’t need to do the whole thing. You can do it very incrementally, and you can also do it based on your highest-priority issues.”

While the intelligent security blueprints can vary in different countries, the new MXDR is a global offering, Marchese said.

“Some of the other products and services are tailored for local markets, but the MXDR, which is our global managed offer, is consistent globally,” he said.

Logicalis has offered managed services based on Microsoft Sentinel technology for years, but MXDR, powered by Cisco, is a new offering for the company, Marchese said.

While solution providers like Logicalis US have offered security services for years, what Logicalis US is bringing to customers now is unique, Marchese said.

“There's a couple of things that make this unique,” he said. “Cisco's acquisition of Splunk and their release of XDR brings together and gives a complete vision that Cisco, arguably, depending on who you talk to, never had. Cisco is advocating a comprehensive, all-encompassing suite of security tools which they’re bundling as XDR. We’re offering the ability to manage that XDR implementation.”

Logicalis US is for now the only, or perhaps one of two, Cisco partners offering MXDR services powered by Cisco XDR, Marchese said.

“We’re really ahead of the game, and that is a result of our strong global partnership with Cisco,” he said.
