Menlo Security Hires Industry Vet Bill Robbins As President
Robbins had most recently served as president of worldwide field operations at cybersecurity giant Sophos.
Bill Robbins has departed as president of worldwide field operations at Sophos to become president of Menlo Security, the company said Tuesday.
The web security vendor said the hire comes as it looks to scale beyond the $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) mark that it surpassed in early October.

Robbins, a longtime IT and security industry executive, had joined cybersecurity giant Sophos in April 2023.
He had previously served as chief revenue officer and executive vice president at Mandiant and FireEye from 2016 to 2023. Earlier, he had spent three years as an executive vice president at Nuance Communications and nearly eight years at Symantec, where he ultimately was executive vice president for worldwide sales and services.
In a news release Tuesday, Robbins was quoted as saying that he would be playing a role in driving the next phase of growth at Menlo Security, which was valued at $800 million by its investors in 2020.
The hire follows a series of product announcements by Menlo Security this year that have sought to expand the vendor’s web security offerings.
In February, Menlo debuted what it called the industry’s “first” cloud-delivered secure web browser for enterprises. And in August, the company launched updates to its Menlo Zero Trust Access offering including improved support for Apple devices and software.
Robbins’ departure from Sophos comes as the Thoma Bravo-owned vendor plans to acquire Secureworks, a specialist in XDR (extended detection and response) that is majority owned by Dell Technologies. The $859 million acquisition deal was announced Oct. 21 and is expected to close by early 2025.
