Broadcom’s Cybersecurity GM Becomes New CEO Of ExtraHop
Broadcom’s former leader of the Enterprise Security Group, which includes its Symantec and Carbon Black businesses, has left to join ExtraHop as the security company’s new CEO.
Cybersecurity star Rob Greer has left Broadcom to become the new CEO of network detection and response (NDR) specialist ExtraHop as the security company surpasses $300 million in total bookings.
Greer was previously Broadcom’s general manager and vice president of the Enterprise Security Group, which spawned from Broadcom merging its Carbon Black and Symantec security businesses together.
Greer is a longtime top cybersecurity executive with decades of experience, including being Forescout Technologies’ former CTO, where he also played a pivotal role in Forescout’s IPO in 2017.
His career also includes key roles at network security organizations like HP Tipping Point, Blue Coat Systems and SonicWall, where he supported large enterprises across the globe.

Greer was senior vice president of enterprise security at Symantec before Broadcom acquired Symantec in 2019 for $10.7 billion.
In 2019, he joined Broadcom as vice president of the information security group for Symantec by Broadcom. Then in late 2024, Greer joined private equity firm Crosspoint Capital Partners, which is the owner of ExtraHop.
ExtraHop’s New CEO: ‘We Will Reach New Heights’
Seattle-based ExtraHop specializes in cloud-native network detection and response offerings. ExtraHop’s flaghsip RevealX NDR platform delivers visibility and decryption capabilities that organizations need to investigate smarter and stop threats faster.
In 2024, ExtraHop generated more than $300 million in total bookings. The company closed the year with more than 40 different customers contributing over $1 million in annual recurring revenue while also adding several new Fortune 100 clients.
“The ExtraHop team has laid an incredible foundation in the NDR market, garnering a loyal customer base and revolutionizing how enterprises approach cybersecurity and risk management with the most in-depth network telemetry,” said Greer in a statement.
Greer said the company has entered a new phase of growth that “will empower us to reach even more customers across the globe” with a platform that supports all of their network-centric detection and response needs.
“Together, we will reach new heights,” he said.
Greg Clark Will Transition To Executive Chairman
ExtraHop’s former CEO and co-founder of Crosspoint Capital Partners, Greg Clark, has transitioned to the executive chairman role for ExtraHop’s board of directors.
Clark was Symantec’s president and CEO from 2016 until Broadcom’s acquisition in 2019. He is also the former CEO of Blue Coat Systems before the security company was acquired by Symantec in 2011for $4.6 billion.
“Rob’s deep expertise and relationships across the industry will prove instrumental as we further expand our market share,” said Clark in a statement Tuesday.
Clark said ExtraHop is “well-positioned to accelerate its road map” as more organizations realize the power of the RevealX NDR platform and its ability to solve many of their security challenges.
