Trend Micro Channel Chief Resigns
Reynolds left her position as Trend Micro's channel chief after more than five years with the company. Colleagues said that Reynolds' departure was "her own decision."
However colleagues said that Reynolds' resignation came as a surprise. "Any departure is a surprise," said Jean Lozano, director of North American channel marketing for Trend Micro. "We were very sorry to see her go but this was something she needed to do for her career."
Lozano said that Trend Micro intends to find a replacement as soon as possible, and is directing search efforts both internally and externally.
Meanwhile, Tom Miller, Trend Micro's general manager of its enterprise business unit, will serve as the interim channel leader until a replacement can be found.
Miller also agreed that Reynold's departure came unexpectedly. "It was surprise. Nancy has been with Trend just about five years," said Miller, adding that he attributed her resignation not to the company but to her own career aspirations.
"It tends to happen rather suddenly," he said. "Suddenly you're faced with something you weren't necessarily expecting to be faced with. Nancy had literally become the face of the channel for Trend Micro."
Miller said that ideally he hoped to fill the vacancy within a four-to-eight-week timeframe. Until then, Miller said that he and the current channel team is prepared to take over the company's channel operations without any disruption to partners.
"For continuity's sake, I was immediately able to step into the role," he said. "I don't really expect there will be any difference. These people know what to do."
Lozano said that Trend Micro informed channel partners of Reynolds' resignation. Many expressed surprise that she was leaving, Lozano said.
"A lot of them have known Nancy before she got to Trend Micro," said Lozano. "We reassured them of our commitment to the channel, and they wish Nancy nothing but the best."
