CA Acquires Third Security Software Vendor In Three Months

CA did not disclose terms of the acquisition of New York City-based Orchestria, which also has development and engineering offices in the U.K. The company expects to complete the deal by the end of this month. CA also said it expects to retain nearly all of Orchestria's employees.

Orchestria's software helps businesses protect stored data by enforcing information classification and access policies. Such tools are used to set controls on whom can access data and how they can use it based on the user's identity and role.

CA said the acquisition fits into its strategy of assembling a broad portfolio of identity and access management software for a range of security, privacy and regulatory compliance applications. In early October, CA acquired IDFocus LLC and its ACE identity management software for an undisclosed sum. And in mid-November, CA bought Eurekify, a developer of identity and role management applications, also for an undisclosed amount.
