Trend Micro Rolls Out Expanded DLP Security Platform For Mid-Market And Enterprise
“We think partners will naturally gravitate towards it because of the features and capabilities,” Patrick Wheeler, global product marketing manager, endpoint solutions at Trend Micro, told CRN. “The skin in the game for the partners is the willingness to really broaden the conversation that they're having with their customers about their security solutions. These partners will also be able to leverage a variety of services, such as activating DLP across the environment, establishing and fine-tuning the policies, and monitoring the results.”
The premise behind the rollout includes the assertion that antivirus and anti-malware no longer provide an effective security posture, and that DLP systems are essential to providing the necessary visibility and control, given the extent to which devices and users are now spread across the enterprise. Leakage of data through USB drives, external drives and email, whether intentional or accidental, can be addressed through this platform.

“Our objective is to bring data loss prevention to the masses,” Wheeler said. “The challenge is that midsize to low enterprise customers have been underserved by the complex standalone DLP solutions that have been available so far.”
Pre-defined regional and industry-specific policy templates provide a quick start for customers most impacted by data privacy and compliance, such as healthcare, finance and PCI. Additionally, this solution involves modules that integrate existing Trend Micro products, meaning that Control Manager 6.0 is best for customers who have existing Trend Micro enterprise suites but lack the staff and resources to engage standalone DLP.
Wheeler added, “This is a great opportunity for channel partners who have focused on malware solutions to extend their offerings into the data protection realm, which is a high-profile area, which can help them to further grow their businesses, generate new revenues, and develop and deliver services around these modules.”
