SonicWall Expands To Endpoint Security With New SentinelOne Partnership

SonicWall is expanding beyond its network roots, unveiling Wednesday a partnership with SentinelOne to extend its platform to include next-generation endpoint security capabilities.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company said the new partnership will allow for automated distribution of the SentinelOne Endpoint Protection Platform to SonicWall partners, as well as combined technology capabilities, including policy-based enforcement, remediation, dynamic detection across endpoint and network, and automation. The combined offering also will bring cloud-based centralized management and analytics and threat intelligence sharing.

’Our two powerful solutions bring enterprise-level security enforcement, as well as automated detection, prevention, remediation and compliance, to small- and medium-sized organizations around the world. The combined offering takes automated real-time breach detection and prevention to the next level, enabling our customers to focus on their core businesses and fear less," SonicWall President and CEO Bill Conner said in a statement.

The combined offering will be available in early 2018, the company said.

SonicWall traditionally has not had a big play in endpoint security for its partners, focusing primarily on network and email security. However, the endpoint security market has skyrocketed in recent months, with the rise of next-generation endpoint security companies like SentinelOne and a renewed focus on the market. Conner said this partnership marks a significant milestone for SonicWall as it continues to expand its security platform for SMBs.

’Today’s partnership agreement with SentinelOne marks the beginning of another important chapter in SonicWall’s story, as we offer our customers a new, enhanced level of protection,’ Conner said.

Partners praised the move. Michael Goldstein, president of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based LAN Infotech, said the partnership will be a win for the solution provider, as it is a longtime SonicWall partner and has just started working with SentinelOne to offer next-generation endpoint security. He said he has been "converting most of our client base" to SentinelOne for endpoint.

"This potential relationship makes me very excited. We love SonicWall. … It really makes a great one-two punch for security," Goldstein said.

The partnership is the latest announcement in a series of evolutions at SonicWall over the past year. The company spun out from former parent company Dell as part of its sale of Dell Software, a deal that closed in November. SonicWall appointed Conner as CEO at that time.

Since then, SonicWall has adopted a rapid innovation cycle strategy, including the launch of its SonicWall Capture Advanced Threat Protection Service and a new operating system. The company also has adopted a 100 percent channel strategy, which has seen wild success with the company already signing up more than 15,000 partners since the launch of the SecureFirst partner program.
