Reflex Security Preps For Partners

The program, unveiled Tuesday, will enable solution providers to deliver the Reflex Interceptor solution, a microchip-based technology designed for open-source environments that identifies, analyzes and responds to internal and external network security threats.

According to Mike Casey, the Atlanta-based company's COO, the program now has more than five solution providers and is expected to increase tenfold by June 2005.

IPS technology certainly has been in the news in recent weeks. Nearly every major security vendor has come out with a perimeter IPS solution since November.

On Monday, routing vendor 3Com unveiled plans to acquire IPS technology company TippingPoint Technologies, Austin, Texas. The Reflex solution approaches IPS differently.

Instead of delivering the technology in an appliance, the vendor has packaged it into a solid-state microchip that solution providers purchase and install into off-the-shelf hardware from Dell or IBM. The technology contains a suite of antivirus algorithms that perform deep-packet inspection to stop threats.

Casey said solution providers can build services around the technology from there, offering software and signature updates or building the IPS technology into a broader managed service offering. Pricing on the Reflex Interceptor was not available.
